Lady Mechanic Initiative Background Information
Lady Mechanic Initiative is a None Profit Organisation set up to rehabilitate and empower less privileged young girls in a male dominated profession, that was once less attractive to women. Sandra Aguebor-Ekperuoh, the originator of this program, as a young girl had so much interest and immerse potentials in auto mechanic. She took up the challenge of training herself as a mechanic; she has not only excelled as a mechanic with unique standards but now, rehabilitates and train young girls to be professional mechanics. This training focuses on the vulnerable and less privileged; those that have no means of further their education, people from all ethnic groups in Nigeria and across the world. Although, the female folks are the main priority for LMI, the male folks are given some consideration."
LMI is set to impact sustainable entrepreneurial skills in the poor, marginalized and vulnerable people in Nigeria thereby helping them to reintegrate into the society, enrich the wider society and achieve lasting impact.
The women do not only find a job, they also have more self esteem and are healthier. And it’s not only the girl that benefits from the training; it’s also her family, partners, friends, and the environment.
Our mission is to empower the women in auto mechanic skills as a profession to create wealth for a sustainable source of livelihood. It’s all about the life of the young Nigerian ladies. Most of the girls live in densely populated areas in Nigeria.
