Sara For the management staff as well as trainees who had contact with her during her six months work as volunteer at LMI, Sarah Hindle is not a personality to be easily forgotten.

Between June and December 2007, gthe UK based guruof organisational development and fund raising was in Lagos on the sponsorship of Voluntary Society Overseas(VSO) to bring her skills and experience to bear in helping the initiative tackle the challenges of building relationships with individuals and corporate organisation that might be willing to identify with the lofty ideals of LMI by providing some of the much needed fundraising activities.

Between her arrival, work period at the LMI and departure, many within the LMI family, especially trainees were of the opinion that she left a good impression of herself and ultimately justified her role as a volunteer who put her very best into helping the LMI get better than she met it.

Russell

Engr Russell Patrick McKeown BA (Hons), MMS Dip, IOSH Cert or "Russell" as he is fondly called is currently on a 2 year placement with the Lady Mechanic Initiative as a Workshop Trainer and Instructor after successfully completing selection and pre-country training in the UK.
He saw the LMI whilst “Googling” on the internet at his home in Spain and felt inspired to find out more due to the unique nature of this initiative and the work the NGO is doing in Nigeria. Six months later here he is in Lagos!

This is his  first experience of Africa and Nigeria and everyone has made me welcome and is keen to share my experience and Knowledge.  He spent 25 years in the UK working in the engineering industry initially as a mechanical engineer building special purpose machinery for a variety of industries, military aircraft such as Tornado & Typhoon and civil aircraft for Airbus Industries. He later went on to be an Industrial Engineer, a Development Engineer and finally a Technology Transfer/ Project Manager working with numerous countries throughout the world.

Russell says his hope is that when he finishes his placement in 2 years time he would  have been able to make a difference to the organisation and to the lives of the trainee Lady Mechanics so that they will go on to lead prosperous happy lives, doing a job they enjoy.
