What Lady Mechanic Initiative Training is all about

Lady Mechanic Initiative is empowering and training young ladies in Auto Mechanic profession as skill acquisition to create wealth. LMI aim to train 36,000 women of Nigeria and across Africa over the years.
The program is a three year course. Also, the trainees are sent to our partners, Peugeot Automobile Nigeria in Kaduna, Coscharis Motors in Lagos, where they receive other high class training programme on fault finding, repairs, installation, dismantling and assembly etcetera. This specific programme is usually 3 months in each. Examinations will be conducted to assess the trainee, it will help to measure the capacity of a trainee, know the trainee weakness and strength; this aids improvement both in practical and theory. Apart from the technical training the ladies follow monthly lectures.

How Does The Lady Mechanic Initiative Hope To Achieve These
The Lady Mechanic Initiative hopes to achieve the above objectives through a programme of vocational training in auto mechanic activities complete with training in entrepreneurship and small business management.

Targets group: Young female

Age group: 14 years – 35 years

• Empowering the Nigerian girl/lady even in a male dominated trade

• Educating and training girls in professions dominated by men

• Breaking all boundaries for women in the mechanical engineering profession

• Creating a better future for the girl instead of prostitution and other vices

Unique Selling Point  - The girl/lady is the key to the future of the nation therefore helping them by empowering them is the weapon required.

Length Of Project/Training - 3  years full training

The Strategy - To dispel the notion that women cannot succeed in traditionally male jobs, we will train a proud troop of female in a program that offers a one -year course to women of all backgrounds,We will offer course that teaches the fundamental skills of diagnosis and repair, and teaches students to build customer loyalty through friendly and efficient service.We also emphasize ethics in trainings, uniting trainees in the mission to establish a reputation of fairness for women mechanics. Where male mechanics have earned a reputation for inflated prices and shoddy workmanship, our trainees maintain an image of professionalism and customer care. As trainees enter the Lady Mechanic Initiative, they receive overalls, a starter toolkit, and a small stipend.
